E40 indicates a communication failure between the main touch control board and the filter board on your Electrolux induction cooktop. The cooktop uses a LIN bus network to pass signals between these components, and E40 appears when that communication link is broken or absent. The fault can stem from loose wiring connectors, a damaged harness, missing AC power to the induction housing, or a failed board.

A power reset, such as turning off the circuit breaker for one to two minutes, may temporarily clear the E40 display if the fault was caused by a momentary communication glitch. However, if the underlying cause is a loose connector, damaged harness, wiring fault, or failed board, the error will return as soon as the cooktop tries to establish communication again. A reset alone is not a fix and the root cause must be addressed.
