Error code 22 means the Display Module and Motor Controller are running out of sequence with each other. These two boards need to communicate in a synchronized way for the washer to operate, and the machine has detected a breakdown in that coordination. The washer stops itself when this happens to prevent further problems. In many cases, a simple power cycle at the wall clears the fault by allowing both modules to reinitialize together.

The washer will typically stop operation when code 22 is active, so continued use is not possible until the fault is cleared. You should not attempt to force the machine to run while this fault is present. Addressing the root cause of the sequencing conflict first is important before resuming normal laundry cycles.

If code 22 returns after a power cycle, the next step is to disable the auto restart feature on the washer and run it again. This allows the machine to display any new or underlying fault code that may have been hidden behind the sequencing error. That secondary fault code will give a clearer picture of whether the problem is in the wiring, the Display Module, or the Motor Controller, and will guide the next diagnostic or repair steps.

A power reset is the recommended first step and it does resolve code 22 in many cases, particularly when the fault was caused by a temporary power fluctuation or a disrupted startup sequence. Turn the machine off at the wall, wait at least 5 seconds, then turn it back on. If the error returns, you will need to disable the auto restart feature and retest to uncover any underlying fault code driving the issue.
