The E95 error code on a Frigidaire washer indicates a communication error between the main control board and the console control board (also called the user interface board). These two boards constantly exchange data signals during operation, and when that communication link breaks down or produces inconsistent signals, the machine halts and displays E95 to alert the technician that the control system has lost reliable internal communication.

The console control board is the primary suspect in this fault because it houses the input/output circuitry that relays user selections and status signals between the display panel and the main control board. A failed or failing console board can produce corrupted, intermittent, or absent data signals on the communication bus, triggering this code. Wiring harness connectors between the two boards are also worth inspecting, as loose pins, corrosion, or a damaged ribbon cable can interrupt the data path without either board actually being defective.

Because the first diagnostic step points directly to console board replacement, technicians should begin by inspecting the wiring harness connections at both ends before swapping parts. If the connectors are secure and undamaged and the error persists, replacing the console control board is the correct next action. In cases where a new console board does not resolve the fault, the main control board may also be involved in the communication failure and should be evaluated as a secondary suspect.
