Error code 358 on a GE washer indicates an Air Inlet Thermistor Fault, designated as NTC 5. This means the control board is receiving a temperature reading from the heat pump air inlet thermistor that falls outside the acceptable operating range. The machine stops operation to protect the heat pump system until the fault is resolved.

You should not continue running the washer while code 358 is active. The heat pump system relies on accurate thermistor readings to regulate temperatures safely during the cycle. Operating the machine with a faulty thermistor risks improper heat pump operation and could lead to further component damage.

A power reset may temporarily clear the code, but it will return as soon as the control board detects the thermistor reading out of range again during the next cycle. Because code 358 points to a hardware fault in the thermistor circuit, the underlying issue must be diagnosed and repaired before the error will stay cleared.
