Maytag Washer Error Code F/13

F/13 on a Maytag washer is a dispenser circuit error. It means the dispenser motor cannot be driven to its proper position, so the washer cannot correctly deliver detergent, bleach, or fabric softener. The fault can originate in the mechanical linkage, the motor itself, the wiring, or the control board.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer while F/13 is active. The washer will not dispense laundry products correctly, which can result in improperly washed loads. Additionally, forcing cycles through a mechanical fault can put strain on the motor and related components, potentially worsening the damage.

Unplugging the washer for a few minutes may temporarily clear the error code, but if the underlying mechanical or electrical fault is still present, the F/13 code will return once the washer attempts to run the dispenser again. A reset alone is not a fix. The root cause must be identified and corrected to permanently resolve the error.

Clean the dispenser compartment and free any obstructions. If the linkage is intact and clean, further diagnosis should include testing the dispenser motor for continuity and checking the wiring harness for damage.
