F77 means the washer has detected an off-balance load condition, typically during the spin cycle. The control system monitors drum movement and stops the cycle when vibration or movement exceeds acceptable limits. This protects internal components from damage caused by excessive shaking. The fault can be caused by uneven laundry distribution or worn suspension components.

A reset can clear the active fault code, but it will not resolve the underlying cause. If the load was simply uneven, redistributing the laundry and restarting is usually enough. If the suspension is worn or the machine is not level, the F77 code will return on the next spin cycle until the root cause is corrected.

If the fault is caused by loading habits or leveling, there is no parts cost involved. Addressing the issue early generally keeps repair costs lower by preventing secondary damage from prolonged heavy vibration.
