The T-06 code means the washer has detected that the load inside the drum is too hot for the door to be safely unlocked. The control board holds the door latch engaged as a burn-prevention safety measure. The code will typically clear on its own once the internal temperature sensor confirms the drum and load have cooled to a safe level. No immediate action is required in most cases.

The T-06 code itself is a safety feature, not a hazard. It is designed to prevent you from opening the door and contacting a dangerously hot load or drum surface. If the door is being held locked for an unusually long time and you have confirmed the laundry has cooled, then a component issue such as a bad thermistor could be present, which warrants further diagnosis.

If the code clears on its own after cooling, there is no repair cost involved. If a faulty thermistor is the cause, parts typically range from $15 to $50, with professional labor adding $100 to $200 depending on your area. A defective door lock assembly generally costs $30 to $80 for the part, with similar labor rates applying if a technician is needed.

In most situations, you simply need to wait. After a hot wash or sanitize cycle, allow 10 to 20 minutes for the drum to cool down and the code should clear automatically. If the code does not clear after an extended period, the thermistor or door lock assembly may be faulty and should be tested and replaced as needed.

Performing a reset by unplugging the washer for a few minutes may temporarily clear the code display, but the door will likely remain locked if the temperature condition has not actually resolved. The underlying thermal interlock is tied to sensor readings, so the proper resolution is allowing the drum to cool rather than forcing a reset. If the code keeps returning after cooling, a component fault may be involved.
