E302 indicates a low pressure sensor error caused by a short circuit condition. The system detects this when the sensor output voltage falls below 0.4V. This means the control board is not receiving a valid pressure signal from the low pressure sensor. The unit will not operate normally until the fault is resolved.

Operating the heat pump with an active E302 fault is not recommended. The low pressure sensor plays a role in protecting the system from running under unsafe refrigerant pressure conditions. Without a reliable pressure reading, the unit cannot properly protect the compressor, and continued operation could cause further damage.

Repair costs vary depending on what component has failed. If only the sensor connector needs to be reseated or cleaned, the cost may be limited to a service call fee, typically in the range of $75 to $150. A low pressure sensor replacement generally adds $50 to $200 in parts.
