The 17E code indicates an error in the sparkling water system's temperature sensor circuit. It triggers when the control board detects a connector disconnection, a cut or shorted wire, or a temperature reading from the sparkling sensor that is above 149°F (65°C) or below -58°F (-50°C). The sparkling water function will typically stop working while this error is active. A technician will start by measuring voltage at pins 1 and 3 of connector CN32 on the ASSY KIT PCB to identify whether the problem is electrical or sensor-based.

A power reset may temporarily clear the 17E code from the display, but it will return if the underlying wiring or sensor fault is not repaired. The control board will re-run its diagnostic on the sparkling sensor circuit each time power is restored. A reset is useful for confirming whether the fault is intermittent, but it is not a repair.

Repair costs depend on what part has failed. If the fix is simply reseating a loose connector, the cost may be limited to a service call fee, typically in the range of $75 to $150. If a sensor or wiring harness needs replacement, parts and labor combined can range from $150 to $350 or more depending on your location and the technician's rates. A control board replacement, if required, is the most expensive scenario and could push costs higher.

If you are comfortable with basic electrical checks, you can inspect the wiring harness connected to the sparkling sensor for obvious damage, and check that the connector at CN32 is fully seated. However, accurately diagnosing whether the fault is a broken wire, a short circuit, or a failed sensor requires a multimeter and some familiarity with reading voltage. If you are not confident performing those tests, a qualified appliance technician is the safer option.

The 17E error is specific to the sparkling water module and does not affect the main refrigeration or freezer functions. Your food storage compartments should continue operating normally. However, the sparkling water feature will be non-functional, and the underlying wiring fault should be addressed to prevent any potential for a short circuit to affect other components over time.
