Samsung Refrigerator Error Code 44E

The 44E code indicates an Ice Room Fan error. The refrigerator's control board has detected a problem with the fan motor inside the ice maker compartment, which can be caused by a wiring contact fault, a separated motor wire, or a failed motor. Ice production will typically stop when this code is active.

The refrigerator's main cooling function may continue operating with a 44E error, but ice production will be affected or completely stopped. There is no immediate safety hazard, but running the unit in this condition for an extended period can stress other components. It is best to diagnose and resolve the fault promptly.

A reset may temporarily clear the 44E code from the display, but the error will return if the underlying fault is not repaired. The control board will redetect the fan signal problem as soon as it monitors the ice room fan again during normal operation. A reset alone is not a fix and should only be used as part of the diagnostic process after a repair has been made.

Some causes of the 44E error are DIY-accessible. Replacing the motor is a moderate-difficulty repair that requires basic disassembly of the ice compartment.

If the issue is a loose or corroded connector, the repair may cost nothing beyond your time.
