In many cases the condition clears on its own once the cause is addressed and the compartment has time to cool down.

A reset alone is unlikely to permanently clear the 72E code if the underlying condition still exists. The code is driven by actual temperature readings from the compartment thermistor, so it will reappear if the fridge section remains too warm. Resolve the root cause first, such as closing the door or removing hot food, and the code should clear on its own without needing a manual reset.

If the code is caused by user behavior such as an open door or hot food, there is no repair cost.
