The 14E code means the washer detected that a control panel button has been pressed continuously for longer than 1 minute. The washer treats this as an abnormal condition and displays the error to stop normal operation. It can be caused by a stuck button, a physical obstruction against the panel, moisture inside the switch, or a faulty button component. The error clears automatically once the button is released.

A manual reset or power cycle is not required to clear the 14E error. The washer will automatically release the fault code as soon as the affected button is no longer being pressed. If you power cycle the machine without addressing the stuck or obstructed button, the error will likely return right away.

If the fix is simply removing an obstruction or freeing a stuck button, there is no cost involved. If the membrane switch or control panel overlay needs replacement, parts typically range from $30 to $100 depending on the model, plus labor if a technician is needed. A full control board replacement, which is rarely required for this error, can cost between $150 and $350 in parts alone.

Start by checking whether anything is physically pressing against the control panel and remove any obstructions.
