The MEMS PBA monitors the physical orientation of the machine and communicates that data to the main control board. If the sensor reads an angle outside the acceptable range, this code is triggered. The issue can be a simple leveling problem or, less commonly, a faulty sensor or control board.

A reset may temporarily clear the 8CB3 code, but the fault will return if the underlying cause is not corrected. If the washer is not properly leveled, the MEMS sensor will continue to detect the position fault and re-trigger the error. Address the levelness of the machine or the faulty sensor board before relying on any reset.

If the fix is simply leveling the washer, there is no parts cost involved. If the MEMS PBA requires replacement, parts and labor typically range from around $80 to $200 depending on the model and service provider.
