The E error code on a Samsung washer indicates a water supply error. Specifically, the washer was unable to fill to the selected water level within 60 minutes after starting the fill cycle. This causes the machine to stop and display the code. The issue is somewhere in the water supply path, from the household supply valves to the inlet hoses, inlet valve, or water level sensor.

Pressing the Start key will clear the error status and allow the washer to resume attempting to fill, as this is the recommended first diagnostic step. However, if the underlying cause of the fill restriction is not resolved, the error will return once the washer runs for 60 minutes without reaching the target water level. A reset alone will not fix a hardware issue such as a clogged screen or a failed inlet valve.

If the fix only requires cleaning the inlet valve screens or adjusting supply valves, there may be little to no parts cost involved, and you can likely do it yourself. If the water inlet valve needs replacement, parts typically cost in the range of $20 to $80 depending on the model, plus labor if a technician is used. A water level sensor replacement is generally in a similar cost range, with total repair costs including professional labor often falling between $100 and $250.

Start by pressing the Start key to clear the error and let the washer attempt to fill again.
