Samsung Washer Error Code E1

The E1 code on a Samsung washer signals a water supply error. The machine monitors the pressure sensor frequency during the initial fill and expects it to change by more than 100Hz as water enters the drum. If that frequency shift does not occur, or if the washer cannot reach its preset water level within 20 minutes, the E1 code is displayed and the cycle stops.

Start by confirming that both water supply valves behind the washer are fully open and that neither inlet hose is kinked. Next, disconnect the hoses and inspect the small mesh screens at the inlet valve connections for sediment buildup, cleaning them if needed. If water pressure and hoses are fine, the inlet valve solenoid or the pressure sensor may need to be tested and replaced.

If the fix is simply opening a shutoff valve or cleaning an inlet screen, there is no parts cost involved. Replacing a water inlet valve typically runs in the range of $35 to $100 for the part, plus labor if a technician is needed. A pressure sensor replacement is generally in the $20 to $75 range for the part. Total repair costs including professional labor commonly fall between $100 and $250 depending on the failed component and local rates.

Turning the power switch off and then restoring power to the initial on state is the first recommended step for clearing E1. This resets the control board and allows the fill cycle to start fresh. However, if the underlying cause such as a closed valve, clogged screen, or faulty component is not corrected, the error will return during the next fill attempt.

The washer will not proceed with the wash cycle when E1 is active, so there is no immediate safety risk from the error itself. You should not attempt to bypass the error and force a cycle, since running the motor without adequate water can damage components. Address the water supply issue before resuming normal use.
