The IE error code on a Samsung washer indicates a pressure switch error, meaning the water level sensor is sending frequency signals outside the acceptable range of 15kHz to 30kHz. When this out-of-range condition persists for more than 5 seconds, the washer stops and displays IE. The error points to a problem with the water level sensor, its connecting hose, or the wiring to the control board.

Turning the washer off and back on using the Power switch is part of the recommended diagnostic process and may temporarily clear the error. However, if the pressure sensor frequency is still outside the 15kHz to 30kHz range, the IE code will return during the next wash cycle. A reset alone will not fix an underlying sensor or hose issue.

If the fix is a simple hose reattachment or air trap cleaning, there may be no parts cost involved, though a technician service call typically runs between $75 and $150. Replacing the pressure sensor itself usually costs between $20 and $60 for the part, with total repair costs ranging from $100 to $200 if a technician performs the work.

You should not continue running the washer while IE is active. Because the machine cannot accurately monitor the water level in the drum, continuing to operate it risks overfilling or running the motor without adequate water, either of which can cause further damage.
