Samsung Washer Error Code MEMS Sensor Error

It means the MEMS motion sensor is producing a voltage output above 4.5V or below 0.5V, and that condition has lasted for at least 5 seconds. The MEMS sensor monitors drum movement and vibration to help the washer control balance and motor speed. When the signal is out of range, the washer halts as a protective measure. The fault is most often traced to a wiring connector problem, a bad sensor, or a faulty control board.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer with this error active. The MEMS sensor provides balance and motion data that the control system uses to manage spin speed and drum behavior. Operating without reliable sensor data could allow the machine to run in an unbalanced condition, potentially causing mechanical wear or vibration-related damage over time.

A power reset may temporarily clear the error code, but if the underlying fault with the sensor, wiring, or board remains, the error will return within 5 seconds of the sensor signal going out of range again. A reset is a useful first step to confirm whether the fault is intermittent, but it does not fix the root cause. Proper diagnosis of the sensor, connectors, and PBA is needed for a lasting repair.

Some causes are accessible to a confident DIYer. Checking and reseating the wire harness connector terminals between the sensor and the main board requires no special tools and should be the first step. If the connectors are fine and the fault persists, replacing the MEMS sensor is a moderate repair, though access to the sensor location varies by model. Main PBA replacement is a more involved repair and carries a higher parts cost.

If the fix is simply reseating a connector, there is no parts cost involved. Replacing the MEMS sensor itself typically runs in the range of $20 to $80 for the part, depending on the specific model. If the main PBA is the cause, board replacement costs generally range from $100 to $300 or more for the part alone. Adding a technician's labor will increase the total repair cost.
