SR on a Samsung washer stands for Switch Error. The control system has detected that the power switch or one of the tact buttons on the control panel is being held in the active state continuously, or that the switching IC on the main PBA has failed. The machine halts operation because it cannot distinguish this condition from normal input.

A reset may temporarily clear the SR code, but if the underlying cause is a physically stuck button or a failed switching IC, the error will return. Power the washer off, unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in. If SR reappears immediately or after the next cycle attempt, the root cause must be addressed before the code will stay clear.

If the fix is a stuck button cleared without parts, the cost is minimal. Replacing a faulty tact switch or power switch typically runs in the range of $20 to $80 for the part, plus labor if professionally repaired. If the main control board needs to be replaced due to a failed switching IC, parts and labor combined can range from $150 to $400 depending on the model and service provider.

Start by pressing each button on the control panel and the power button to confirm they all spring back freely without sticking. If a button feels jammed, clearing the obstruction or replacing that switch may resolve the error. If the buttons all feel normal, check whether the PBA mounting screws are over-tightened, and if the error persists, the main control board switching IC may need professional inspection or board replacement.

It is not recommended to continue using the washer while SR is active. The error indicates the control board is receiving an abnormal switch signal, which can cause unpredictable behavior in how the machine starts or responds to user input. Resolve the switch fault before running laundry cycles.
