The oven monitors food temperature through the probe by reading its resistance, and a resistance that drops too low triggers this fault code. It typically points to a damaged probe, a dirty probe jack, or wiring issues in that circuit.

Operating the oven with an active F70 code is not recommended if the meat probe is still connected, as the temperature monitoring system is compromised. If the probe is removed and the code clears, basic baking and broiling functions may still work, but you should resolve the underlying fault before relying on the probe for cooking again.

Repair costs vary depending on the cause. A replacement meat probe typically costs in the range of $30 to $80 for the part alone.
