The iD1 code means the control board activated the wash pump but received no tachometer signal from the wash motor for 5 seconds. The tacho signal is what confirms the motor is spinning at the correct speed. When this signal is absent, the dishwasher temporarily disables the heating element and begins a secondary countdown. If no signal is detected after another 30 seconds, the fault escalates to error code iD0.

It is not recommended to continue running the dishwasher when iD1 is active. The control board has already disabled the heating element as a precaution, and the appliance is close to triggering a more serious shutdown via error code iD0. Continued use without addressing the fault could lead to incomplete wash cycles and potential motor damage.

If the fix is a loose or damaged wire harness, repair costs are typically lower, often in the range of $50 to $150 depending on labor. If the wash motor needs to be replaced, parts and labor combined can range from $150 to $400 or more. Diagnosing the harness and connections first can help avoid unnecessary parts replacement.

Start by checking the wire harness and connector at the wash motor for loose pins, corrosion, or visible damage. Reseat any loose connectors and inspect the full length of the harness for chafing or breaks. If the wiring is intact, the wash motor itself may need to be tested or replaced, as the tacho sensor is integrated into the motor assembly.

A reset may temporarily clear the display, but if the underlying cause is not fixed, the iD1 code will return as soon as the dishwasher attempts to run the wash pump again. The fault is triggered by an active hardware condition, so a reset alone is not a repair. The wash motor wiring and motor assembly need to be inspected first.
