The EA1 error code on an Electrolux dryer indicates a communication failure between the main control board and the CRM satellite board. The CRM satellite board is a secondary control module that handles specific input and output functions, relaying signals to and from the main board during the dryer's operation. When communication between these two boards breaks down, the dryer's control system cannot confirm that commands are being received and executed correctly, triggering the EA1 alarm.

The most common cause of this fault is a wiring issue in the communication circuit connecting the satellite board to the main board. Damaged, corroded, or loose connectors along this wiring path can interrupt the data signal entirely or cause intermittent dropouts that register as a communication alarm. Physical inspection of all harness connectors and wire runs between the two boards is the required first step in diagnosis.

If the wiring checks out without any visible damage or poor connections, the fault points to one of the two control boards themselves. The satellite board may have failed internally, preventing it from sending or receiving communication signals. Alternatively, the main control board may have a defect that causes it to misinterpret or fail to detect the satellite board's signals. Determining which board is at fault typically requires component-level testing and, in some cases, substitution of one board at a time to isolate the failure.
