Error code 15 on a Fisher & Paykel dryer indicates a sensor module fault. The sensor module is an integrated component responsible for monitoring key operating parameters within the dryer, including moisture sensing, temperature feedback, and in some configurations, motor or drum rotation data. When the control board detects that the sensor module is not communicating correctly, returning out-of-range values, or has failed entirely, it triggers error code 15 and halts normal operation to prevent damage or unsafe running conditions.

The fault can arise from a number of underlying issues. The sensor module itself may have suffered an internal electronic failure, which is the most direct cause and the one addressed by the primary diagnostic step of replacement. However, the fault can also be triggered by wiring problems between the sensor module and the main control board, including loose connectors, corroded terminals, or damaged harness sections.
