E:11 on a Frigidaire dishwasher indicates a fault in the NTC thermistor circuit, which is the temperature sensor the dishwasher uses to monitor water heating. When this error is active, the dishwasher stops heating water because the control system cannot confirm a valid temperature reading. The fault can stem from a failed thermistor, a damaged wiring harness, or a problem at the power module connection.

Running the dishwasher with an active E:11 code is not dangerous in the sense of an immediate hazard, but it is not effective. The dishwasher disables heating when this fault is present, so water will not reach the temperature needed to properly clean dishes or sanitize them. Continued use without addressing the fault will result in poorly washed dishes and may eventually affect other components.

Repair costs depend on which component has failed. An NTC thermistor is generally an inexpensive part, with DIY repair costs typically in the range of $15 to $50 for the sensor alone.
