E:26 indicates that the water switch is running continuously when it should cycle on and off. The dishwasher detects this abnormal constant signal as a fault and stops operating. The problem is traced to either the water switch itself or the power module that supplies voltage to it. A voltage test at the switch connector determines which component has failed.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code, but it will return as soon as the dishwasher attempts to operate because the underlying component fault still exists. The water switch or power module must be tested and the defective part replaced for the error to be permanently resolved.

If only the water switch requires replacement, parts costs are typically modest, generally in the range of $15 to $50 depending on the specific model. It is not recommended to continue using the dishwasher while E:26 is active.
