The control board cannot confirm the motor is spinning, so it forces the motor to full speed and disables the heating element. This error typically points to a wiring or connection issue at the wash motor, or a fault within the motor itself.

Running the dishwasher in this condition is not recommended. The control board has already disabled the heating element and forced the motor to full speed as a protective measure, meaning wash performance will be poor and dishes will not be cleaned properly. Continued operation with a potentially seized pump or wiring fault could also worsen the underlying problem.

Repair costs vary depending on the root cause. If the fix is simply reseating a connector or clearing a blocked pump, there may be little to no parts cost involved. A wash motor replacement typically runs in the range of $80 to $200 for parts, plus labor if a technician is involved. Control board replacement is generally the most expensive repair, with parts alone often ranging from $100 to $300 or more depending on the model.

Some causes of the iD0 error are DIY-friendly. Checking the wire harness connection at the wash motor, reseating a loose connector, or clearing debris from the pump impeller does not require advanced tools. However, replacing the wash motor or control board involves working near electrical components and disassembling the appliance, which is better suited to a technician if you are not comfortable with appliance repair.

A reset may temporarily clear the code from the display, but the error will return as soon as the control board again fails to detect a tacho signal during the wash cycle. Resetting does not address the root cause. The underlying wiring, motor, or mechanical issue must be diagnosed and repaired to permanently clear this fault.
