NTC failure

NTC failure — NTC open circuit, wiring fault, or main board defective (dryer).

First step from the service manual

Check NTC for normal impedance at room temp (should be 50K ohms at 25°C ±5%). If invalid, replace NTC. If okay, check wiring (fastons on NTC harness and edge connector J4). If okay, replace electronic control board.

From Service Manual 889279, p.51:

1.Check NTC for normal impedance at room temp (should be 50K ohms at 25°C ±5%). If invalid, replace NTC. If okay, check wiring (fastons on NTC harness and edge connector J4). If okay, replace electronic control board.

2.Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at the sensor body. Expected: 10 kΩ to 12 kΩ at 77°F (25°C).

3.Check the sensor harness for opens and shorts. Back-probe the sensor pins at the control board connector; a reading outside 5 kΩ to 50 kΩ indicates a failed sensor.
