Error code 3d11 on a Jenn-Air oven indicates that the control board has detected an open circuit in the temperature sensor circuit during an active cook or clean cycle. The temperature sensor, also called an oven temperature sensor or RTD (resistance temperature detector), is a probe mounted inside the oven cavity that continuously sends resistance readings to the control board. The board uses these readings to monitor and regulate oven temperature. An open circuit means the signal path has been completely broken, and the control is receiving no resistance reading at all rather than a valid out-of-range value.

The first diagnostic step is to measure the resistance of the temperature sensor directly at the sensor leads and at the control board connector. A properly functioning Jenn-Air oven temperature sensor typically reads approximately 1080 ohms at room temperature. A reading of infinite resistance (OL on a multimeter) confirms the sensor itself has an open internal element and requires replacement. If the sensor reads correctly at its own terminals but not at the control board connector, the wiring harness between the sensor and control is the likely fault.

Because the control cannot verify oven temperature with an open sensor circuit, it disables all cooking functions as a safety measure to prevent uncontrolled heating. This shutdown occurs during both cook and clean cycles, where accurate temperature feedback is critical.
