F20 means the washer did not detect water entering the drum within the required time. The control board monitors two pressure switch thresholds during the fill cycle, and if the first threshold is not reached within 6 minutes, the fault is recorded. The washer will typically display a 'lo H2O' warning first and may retry filling up to 3 times before locking out with the F20 code.

Clearing the error code will remove the F20 display, but the code will return immediately if the underlying water supply problem has not been resolved. To reset, unplug the washer for about one minute, then restore power. Address the root cause before running a new cycle, or the washer will go through its retry sequence and display F20 again.

If the issue is simply a closed valve or kinked hose, there is no parts cost at all. Cleaning clogged inlet screens is also a no-cost fix. If the water inlet valve needs replacement, parts typically range from $25 to $80 depending on the model, with additional labor costs if a technician is hired. A pressure switch replacement generally falls in a similar price range for parts.

Start by checking that both water shutoff valves behind the washer are fully open and that the inlet hoses are not kinked. Next, unplug the washer and inspect the small mesh screens at the water inlet valve connections for blockage, rinsing them clean if needed. If supply and hose checks pass, the water inlet valve itself may need to be tested or replaced. In some cases, a faulty pressure switch or pressure hose can cause a false F20 reading.

The washer will not proceed with a wash cycle while the F20 fault is active, so there is no risk of running a load without water. It is safe to inspect the supply hoses and shutoff valves while the washer is unplugged, which is always recommended before performing any hands-on diagnostic steps.
