Error code 8 on a Norcold refrigerator is a LOW DC (1) error indicating the DC input voltage was below 10.0 VDC when the unit tried to ignite the LP gas burner. To protect against unsafe ignition, the refrigerator disables the gas valve and igniter outputs until adequate voltage is restored. This error only appears in Auto mode or Manual LP mode.

The error code itself is a safety feature. The refrigerator shuts down the gas valve and igniter to prevent an unsafe ignition attempt when power is insufficient. There is no immediate danger from the error code, but you should restore adequate DC voltage before continuing to use the unit in LP mode.
