The 2C code on a Whirlpool oven means the keytail connector, the cable linking the keypad to the electronic control board, is not properly connected. The control detects no communication from the keypad and displays this fault. It is primarily a connection or wiring issue. A 2C error indicates the keypad connection is compromised, which means the touchpad controls may not respond reliably or at all. Operating an oven with an unresponsive or intermittent keypad is not recommended because you may not be able to cancel a cooking cycle or adjust settings accurately. It is best to resolve the connection issue before using the oven.

If the repair is simply reseating a loose connector, there is no parts cost and only minimal labor time.
