Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E:13

E:13 means the dishwasher has detected incoming water hotter than 75°C (167°F) at its inlet. The control board responds by disabling the internal heating element or heat pump to protect the appliance from damage. The error points to a problem with the water supply temperature rather than a failed internal component. Correcting the supply temperature will typically resolve the fault.

The dishwasher disables its heating functions when E:13 is active, which is a protective measure, but continuing to operate it with excessively hot incoming water can still stress internal components like gaskets, spray arms, and the tub. It is best to resolve the water temperature issue before running full cycles. Identifying and correcting the supply problem first protects the appliance from long-term damage.

If the issue is simply a plumbing connection or a water heater thermostat adjustment, the repair may cost nothing or just the price of a service call, typically in the range of $75 to $150. If the NTC temperature sensor has failed and needs replacement, parts and labor combined generally fall in the range of $100 to $250 depending on the technician and part availability. Addressing the supply temperature first is the most cost-effective starting point.

Start by checking that the dishwasher's inlet hose is connected to a cold or warm water supply, not a dedicated hot water line. If the plumbing connection is correct, measure the actual temperature at the supply line and check the water heater thermostat setting. Reduce the water heater temperature if it is delivering water above 75°C. Once the supply temperature is confirmed to be below the threshold, restart the dishwasher to see if the error clears.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code, but the fault will return as soon as the dishwasher detects incoming water above 75°C again. The underlying cause, which is the water supply temperature being too high, must be corrected for the error to stay cleared. Resetting without fixing the supply temperature is not a lasting solution.
