F04 indicates an accelerometer failure on the Central Control Unit. The accelerometer measures motion along the X, Y, and Z axes, and this code appears when all three axis readings fall outside their normal operating range. The accelerometer is built into the CCU board, so it cannot be serviced or replaced on its own. This code shares the same diagnostic path as the F03 error code.

A reset may temporarily clear the code, but if the underlying accelerometer component has failed, the F04 error will return once the washer attempts to run a cycle. Resetting is worth trying after reseating a dislodged CCU, since that may resolve the issue without further repair. If the code reappears after a reset and the board is properly mounted, the CCU needs to be replaced.

If the fix is simply reseating the CCU, there is no parts cost involved. If the CCU board itself needs to be replaced, parts typically range from around 150 to 350 dollars depending on the model, with additional labor costs if a technician performs the repair. Getting a diagnostic visit from a qualified repair technician before purchasing parts is advisable to confirm the CCU is the source of the failure.

The first step you can do yourself is to check whether the CCU has come loose from its mounting bracket and reseat it if necessary. If the board is properly mounted and the error returns, the accelerometer circuit on the CCU has likely failed, which requires replacing the entire control board. Board replacement is a moderate-difficulty repair that involves disconnecting wiring harnesses and removing the old board from its housing.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer while F04 is active. The accelerometer provides critical data for managing spin speed and detecting imbalanced loads. Without accurate motion sensing, the washer cannot properly control the drum during high-speed spinning, which could result in excessive vibration or mechanical stress on internal components.
