The dS code means the washer has detected a contradictory condition: the door switch is reading as open while the door locked switch is reading as locked at the same time. This conflict is not possible under normal operation, so the control board stops the cycle and displays the fault. It most commonly points to a problem with the door lock assembly or the wiring connected to it.

You should not continue running the washer while the dS code is active. The code means the control board cannot confirm the door is properly closed and locked, and running a cycle under that condition could pose a safety risk, particularly for front-load washers where water containment depends on a secure door seal and latch. Resolve the fault before resuming use.

Repair costs depend on which component has failed. A door lock assembly typically falls in the range of $30 to $100 for the part alone, while professional labor to diagnose and replace it can add $75 to $200 depending on your location and service provider.
