What 60 means on a Bosch washer
Error code 60 on a Bosch washer indicates that the flow sensor is reporting values outside of its acceptable range, either reading too low or too high. The flow sensor monitors the rate at which water enters the machine during fill cycles. When the sensor detects flow rates that fall outside of expected parameters, the control board flags this fault to prevent improper water levels or cycle errors. The issue can stem from a failed sensor, disrupted water flow, or a loss of electrical communication between the sensor and the control board.
One common source of this error is turbulent or irregular water movement within the sensor or connected hose. If debris or sediment partially blocks the inlet screen or the filter inside the solenoid valve, water flow becomes uneven, causing erratic sensor readings. This turbulence can cause the sensor to oscillate between too-high and too-low values even if the physical sensor itself is still functional. Checking and cleaning the filter in the solenoid valve is an important early diagnostic step.
A faulty flow sensor is also a direct cause. If the sensor has failed internally, it may send a constant incorrect signal or no signal at all to the control board. Additionally, a damaged or corroded wire harness connecting the flow sensor to the control board can interrupt signal transmission, producing readings that appear out of range. Technicians should inspect the harness for broken wires, loose connectors, or corrosion before condemning the sensor itself.

Common causes of 60
- 01
Clogged solenoid valve filter
Wiring / connectionSediment or debris in the inlet filter of the solenoid valve restricts or disrupts water flow, causing the flow sensor to read irregular values. Remove and inspect the filter screen for buildup and rinse it clean.
- 02
Failed flow sensor
Part replacementThe flow sensor itself may have failed mechanically or electronically, sending readings that are consistently too high, too low, or absent. Replacing the flow sensor is required if the component tests outside of normal operating specifications.
- 03
Turbulent water in the sensor or hose
Wiring / connectionAir pockets, kinks, or partial blockages in the water supply hose can create turbulent flow that confuses the sensor. Inspect the hose for kinks, restrictions, or debris and ensure the water supply pressure is within the washer's acceptable range.
- 04
Damaged or faulty wire harness
Part replacementA broken wire, loose connector, or corroded terminal in the harness between the flow sensor and the control board can interrupt the signal and trigger error 60. Inspect the full length of the harness visually and test connector continuity.
- 05
Low household water pressure
Wiring / connectionIf incoming water pressure is insufficient, the flow sensor may consistently read values below the expected threshold. Verify that the home water supply valves are fully open and that pressure is adequate for the machine to operate correctly.
