E13 indicates that the washer has detected an unexpected loss of water from the tub during a cycle. The control system monitors water level continuously, and when water disappears without a commanded drain, E13 is triggered. The most common causes are a siphoning drain hose or a defective drain pump. The washer stops operation to prevent running dry or causing further damage.

It is not recommended to continue using the washer until the cause of E13 is identified and corrected. Running the machine with uncontrolled water loss can result in water damage to flooring and surrounding areas. If a leaking drain pump or cracked tub is involved, continued use could worsen the damage and increase repair costs.

Repair costs depend on the root cause. If the fix is simply repositioning the drain hose, there is no parts cost involved. Replacing a door boot seal typically runs between $30 and $100 for the part. A drain pump replacement generally costs between $40 and $150 for the part, with additional labor charges if a technician is hired, often bringing the total to $150 to $300 or more depending on your area.

Start by checking that all wiring connectors on the washer are firmly seated, then inspect the tub and all hose connections for any signs of leaking water. Next, verify that the drain hose is correctly routed, forming an inverted U shape before entering the standpipe, and that it is not inserted too far into the pipe. If those steps do not resolve the issue, the drain pump may need to be tested and potentially replaced.

A reset may temporarily clear the E13 code, but it will return if the underlying cause is not addressed. To reset, unplug the washer for a few minutes and then restore power. If the drain hose position or a leak is responsible, the code will reappear as soon as the washer attempts to fill and loses water again.
