The control board has detected that the lower sail switch is remaining in a closed state when it should not be, which can be caused by airflow blockages, a stuck switch, or a wiring issue.

It is not recommended to continue using the dryer while error code 83 is active. A stuck or faulty sail switch combined with restricted airflow can create conditions where heat is not properly managed inside the dryer. Running the dryer in this state could pose a fire risk or cause damage to other components.

Resetting the dryer by unplugging it for a few minutes may temporarily clear the code, but the fault will return if the underlying cause has not been addressed. The control board will continue to detect the lower sail switch in the closed position as long as a blockage, mechanical issue, or electrical fault remains present.
