Electrolux Range Error Code Pb
Pan detection error
Pan detection error — flashes when no compatible cookware is detected on an active induction zone or cookware is not properly positioned.
First step from the service manual
Ensure a magnetic-based, properly sized cookware is centered on the induction zone. The zone will automatically turn off after 3 minutes if no valid cookware is detected.
The complete diagnostic procedure includes additional test steps, resistance specifications, wiring diagram references, and component test points.

What Pb means on a Electrolux range
The Pb error code on an Electrolux induction range indicates a pan detection failure on one or more active induction zones. Induction cooktops work by generating a magnetic field through a copper coil beneath the glass surface. When compatible ferromagnetic cookware is placed on the zone, the magnetic field induces an electrical current in the pan base, generating heat. The control system continuously monitors whether a valid inductive load is present. If the coil energizes but detects no compatible cookware drawing current, the Pb code flashes to alert the user.
The most common triggers are non-magnetic cookware placed on an active zone, undersized pans that do not adequately cover the coil, or properly magnetic cookware that is off-center and not making sufficient contact with the detection area. The zone will continue attempting to detect valid cookware for approximately 3 minutes before automatically shutting off as a safety measure. This auto-shutoff is intentional and does not indicate a component failure in most cases.
In less common scenarios, Pb can point to a hardware issue such as a faulty induction coil, a defective coil driver board, or a failure in the pan detection circuitry on the control board. These hardware-related causes are typically ruled out only after confirming that multiple known-compatible pans of appropriate size consistently fail to clear the code on a specific zone while other zones perform normally.

Common causes of Pb
- 01
Non-magnetic cookware in use
Wiring / connectionAluminum, copper, glass, and most non-magnetic stainless steel pans will not be detected by the induction coil. Test your cookware by holding a refrigerator magnet to the base. If the magnet does not stick, the pan is incompatible.
- 02
Cookware not centered on the zone
Wiring / connectionEven compatible magnetic cookware can trigger Pb if it is positioned off-center, since the coil's detection area is concentrated beneath the marked zone circle. Reposition the pan so it is fully centered over the zone indicator.
- 03
Cookware base too small for the zone
Wiring / connectionPans with a base diameter significantly smaller than the induction zone may not provide enough magnetic coupling for detection. Use cookware sized appropriately for the selected zone.
- 04
Warped or uneven pan base
Wiring / connectionA heavily warped pan base reduces contact with the glass surface, which can weaken the inductive coupling enough to trigger a detection failure. Inspect the bottom of the cookware for visible bowing or warping.
- 05
Faulty induction coil or control board
Part replacementIf the Pb code appears consistently on one specific zone even with multiple known-compatible pans centered correctly, the induction coil or the coil driver circuitry on the control board may be defective. This requires component-level diagnosis and likely part replacement.
