What F6 means on a Electrolux dryer
The F6 error code on an Electrolux dryer indicates that the control board's AC line cycle detector is not receiving the expected AC line cycle signal. The control monitors the incoming AC power supply for its standard 60 Hz cycling pattern. When this cycling signal is absent for a continuous sample period of one minute, the board registers the F6 fault, displays the code visually without triggering an audible alarm, and automatically resets the control into a non-cook (non-heat) mode as a protective measure.
The AC line cycle detector circuit is an internal function of the control board, but it depends entirely on a stable and properly configured AC power input at the dryer's supply. If the dryer is receiving incomplete power, such as a lost leg on a 240-volt circuit, or if the supply voltage is severely degraded, the control board will fail to detect the normal AC line cycles. Wiring faults at the terminal block, a tripped breaker, or a failed outlet can all prevent the correct AC signal from reaching the board.
Because the code triggers a reset to non-cook mode, the dryer may still appear to power on but will not produce heat. Diagnosis should begin at the AC power supply, confirming that both legs of the 240-volt circuit are present and delivering correct voltage. If supply power is confirmed good, attention shifts to the internal wiring between the terminal block and the control board, and ultimately to the control board itself if no other fault is found.

Common causes of F6
- 01
Lost leg on 240-volt circuit
Wiring / connectionElectrolux dryers require a 240-volt supply with two hot legs. If one leg is lost due to a partially tripped breaker or a failed utility connection, the AC line cycle signal can disappear. Check both legs at the outlet with a multimeter for approximately 120 volts each to ground.
- 02
Tripped or faulty circuit breaker
Wiring / connectionA breaker that has tripped partially may still show as ON visually but not be delivering full power. Reset the breaker fully by switching it to OFF and then back to ON, and verify voltage at the outlet afterward.
- 03
Faulty power outlet or wall receptacle
Part replacementA worn or damaged 240-volt dryer receptacle can cause intermittent or complete loss of one or both power legs. Inspect the outlet for burn marks, corrosion, or loose connections, and test voltage directly at the receptacle terminals.
- 04
Loose or damaged wiring at the terminal block
Part replacementThe terminal block where the dryer's power cord connects internally can develop loose or burned connections that interrupt the AC supply before it reaches the control board. Inspect the terminal block for discoloration, melted insulation, or loose screws.
- 05
Failed control board
Part replacementIf AC power supply and all internal wiring are confirmed good, the control board's AC line cycle detector circuit itself may have failed. A faulty board will need to be replaced to resolve the F6 fault.
