GE Range Error Code F30x

The F30x code means the control board has detected a shorted oven temperature sensor, with resistance measuring below 950 ohms. The oven sensor is a resistive device that should read approximately 1100 ohms at room temperature. When the reading drops below the threshold, the control flags the fault and disables oven operation. The x in the code can represent different digit variations depending on the specific model.

You should not attempt to use the oven while this fault is active. A shorted sensor means the control cannot accurately read oven temperature, which could lead to uncontrolled heating conditions. The control board disables the oven for this reason. Surface burners on gas models may still function, but the oven should remain out of service until the fault is corrected.

If the oven temperature sensor itself has failed, replacement sensors typically cost between $20 and $60 for parts depending on the model. If a technician performs the repair, total costs including labor generally range from $100 to $250. Harness repairs or terminal cleaning are usually on the lower end of that range, while a combined sensor and harness replacement would be toward the higher end.

If the sensor reads below 950 ohms at the sensor terminals, the sensor needs replacement. A power reset by unplugging the range or tripping the circuit breaker may temporarily clear the code, but it will return as soon as the control board reads the sensor resistance again and finds it below 950 ohms. The underlying fault must be repaired for the code to stay clear.
