What No LED means on a GE range
The "No LED" condition on a GE range refers to the complete absence of power reaching the DSI (Direct Spark Ignition) module. The DSI module is responsible for controlling the ignition sequence on gas ranges, generating the spark signal and monitoring the flame sensor circuit. When this module receives no power, it cannot perform any of its functions, and the absence of any indicator light on the module itself is the primary symptom that distinguishes this condition from other ignition-related faults.
The most common cause of this condition is a wiring problem somewhere in the supply circuit feeding the DSI module. This includes loose terminal connections at the module itself, damaged or burned wire insulation, a failed inline fuse or fuse link in the ignition circuit, or a broken wire that has lost continuity. Because the DSI module depends on a dedicated power feed, any interruption between the control board or terminal block and the module input terminals will result in a completely dark module with no LED activity.
Diagnosis begins with a thorough inspection of the wiring harness routed to the DSI module. Technicians should check each connector for corrosion, heat damage, or pushed-back terminals. Voltage should be confirmed at the module power input pins to rule out an upstream supply issue before condemning the module itself. If proper voltage is present at the module input but the LED remains off, the module has likely failed internally and will need replacement.

Common causes of No LED
- 01
Loose or disconnected wiring harness
Wiring / connectionThe connector supplying power to the DSI module may have worked loose over time due to vibration or heat cycling. Inspect all terminals at the module for secure seating and signs of arcing or heat damage.
- 02
Broken or damaged supply wire
Part replacementA wire in the circuit feeding the DSI module may have broken internally or shorted against a metal edge, cutting power to the module. A continuity check along the harness will identify an open or shorted conductor.
- 03
Blown fuse or fuse link in the ignition circuit
Part replacementSome GE range models use an inline fuse or thermal fuse link to protect the DSI module power circuit. If this fuse has blown, the module will receive no power and show no LED activity.
- 04
Failed DSI module
Part replacementIf voltage is confirmed at the module input pins but the LED still does not illuminate, the module itself has likely failed internally. The module will need to be replaced to restore ignition function.
- 05
Upstream control board or terminal block fault
Part replacementIf the power supply originating from the main control board or terminal block is not reaching the DSI module circuit, the module will have no power. Verify voltage at the source before tracing downstream wiring.
