The diagnostic process starts with resetting the unit and checking whether the fan spins in Test 1 Mode.

A reset will temporarily clear the Er CF code, but if an underlying problem exists, the code will return once the control board detects the missing fan feedback signal again after 65 seconds. Resetting is a valid first step to determine whether the fault was caused by a transient power issue. If Er CF comes back after the reset, further diagnosis of the fan motor, wiring, and control board is needed.
