Er FF means the brushless DC fan motor in the freezer compartment has failed to send a rotation signal to the control board for an extended period. The timeout is 115 seconds on drawer-style models and 65 seconds on swing-door models. This fan is critical for circulating cold air throughout both the freezer and refrigerator sections. Without it running, temperatures will rise and food can spoil.

It is not safe to continue using the refrigerator normally with an Er FF error active. Without the freezer fan operating, neither the freezer nor the refrigerator compartment will maintain proper temperatures. Food in both sections is at risk of spoiling, and continued operation may put additional strain on the compressor.

Repair costs vary depending on the cause. If only a wiring connector needs reseating, there may be no parts cost, though a service call typically runs between $75 and $150. If the BLDC fan motor requires replacement, parts and labor combined generally range from $150 to $350, depending on the specific model and local labor rates.
