The 10E code indicates a fault in the freezer ice pipe heater circuit. The refrigerator monitors a small resistance heater that keeps the water supply line to the ice maker from freezing. The error is triggered when the control board detects that the heater circuit has an abnormal resistance, which can be caused by a disconnected connector, broken wire, or failed heater element.

The 10E error is not a safety hazard in the sense of fire or shock risk under normal circumstances. However, a shorted heater element should be addressed promptly, as a sustained short can stress wiring and related components. The most immediate practical effect is that your ice maker may stop working correctly if the water supply line freezes due to the heater being non-functional.

If the fix is simply reseating a connector, the cost is minimal, just your time.
