The defrost sensor is responsible for monitoring evaporator temperatures during defrost cycles, and this fault can disrupt that process.

A defrost sensor fault means the refrigerator may not complete defrost cycles properly, which can cause frost to accumulate on the evaporator over time. This can eventually restrict airflow and cause temperatures to rise, putting food safety at risk.
