Samsung Washer Error Code 4C2

The 4C2 code means the washer has detected that the incoming water temperature is higher than the safe threshold for the selected cycle. It can be triggered by reversed hot and cold supply hoses, water temperature exceeding 70°C during dry cycle valve operation, or water temperature exceeding 50°C during Wool or Lingerie courses. The first thing to check is whether the hot and cold water supply hoses are connected to the correct inlet ports on the back of the machine.

You should not continue running the washer while the 4C2 error is active. If the hot and cold hoses are reversed, the machine may be filling with water that is dangerously hot, which can damage fabrics, harm internal components, and create a safety risk. Resolve the cause of the error before running additional cycles.

If the fix is simply reconnecting reversed supply hoses, there is no parts cost involved. If the water inlet valve needs replacement, parts and labor can typically range from around $100 to $250 depending on your location and service provider. A faulty temperature sensor is generally a lower-cost repair, with parts and labor often falling in the $75 to $175 range. Costs vary based on technician rates and parts availability in your area.

Start by turning off the water supply and inspecting the hose connections at the back of the washer. The cold water hose should connect to the cold water tap and the corresponding cold inlet on the machine, and the same applies for the hot water hose. If hoses are correctly connected, check your water heater temperature setting and lower it if it is set above recommended levels. If the error persists after correcting hose connections and water temperature, the inlet valve or temperature sensor may need to be tested and potentially replaced.

Resetting the washer by unplugging it for a few minutes may temporarily clear the error code, but the fault will return as soon as the machine detects the same out-of-range water temperature again. A reset does not fix the underlying problem. You need to correct the hose connections or address the root cause before the code will stay clear.
